Day 80. My trip is about to come to an end. After more than two months in Vietnam, I got really accustomed to the vibe, the people, the food, the traffic, the dirt and the noise and I’m really afraid to get a reverse culture shock when I get back to Europe. But everything has to come to an end I guess, right?
Day 77. Hà Giang was initially not on my list of things to see. Throughout my trip though, I met several people who told me about that place in the north that’s supposed to have one of the most scenic landscapes they’ve seen in a long time. So I thought I just might give it a shot and decided to make it the last destination to visit in Vietnam before leaving the country. It didn’t disappoint.
Day 62. After spending so much time in cities and mountains I decided it’s time to relax and recharge my batteries at the beach. I had quite high expectations about Phú Quốc because the pictures I saw were pretty stunning. My excitement was crushed quickly though, but first things first.
Day 58. When I was in Dalat, a guy I met told me about a national park, located in the middle of the town and Saigon. It was called Cat Tien and I’ve never heard about it. When I returned to Saigon I kept thinking about it and thought I might just give it a try. Read more
Day 56. Mekong Delta. The region west of Saigon, famous for the floating markets and scenic landscapes. There’s plenty of available tours you can book directly in Vietnam’s metropolis. I booked a three-day tour to several places and was more than excited to see what I would experience.
Day 48. Mũi Né is probably best known for its sand dunes and as a beach resort place, well suited for all kinds of watersports. I only stayed here for two nights as I was not really interested in a touristy resort place, but first things first.

Day 46. Dalat. The mountainous city in Southern Vietnam, known for canyoning trips, waterfalls, and the French-style architecture. I was more than looking forward to cool down here after sweating my ass of in Saigon.
Day 40. Sài Gòn. Ho-Chi-Minh-City. The metropolis by the Mekong Delta. Pollution-Town. Motorbike-City. The Vietnamese dream. Call it whatever you want, it’s time for some serious business.
Day 37. The Marble Mountains are a cluster of five marble and limestone hills that can be easily reached from Hoi An. The mountains are named after the five elements: Kim (metal), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire) and Tho (earth).

Day 36. Hội An. The trading port city in the center of the country, most known for its picturesque old town covered in handcrafted lanterns and also for the numerous tailors that follow their profession here. I was really looking forward to arriving here when I first heard about the place and saw some pictures.

Day 34. Mỹ Sơn – or little Angkor Wat, how I like to call it – is a cluster of ruined Hindu temples that can easily be reached from Hoi An. As of 1999, Mỹ Sơn has been recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Read more facts about the sight on Wikipedia.

Day 31. After staying in Northern Vietnam for a month I decided to finally move South. I still had a wound on my foot so I thought it would probably be better to stay away from harsh nature. That’s why my next stop was Huế, there I wouldn’t have to worry about hiking in the jungle and could simply get a taxi in case something went wrong.

As I stayed in Hanoi overall for about two weeks now I accumulated some photos that I’d like to share. It’s an amazing city to stroll around, looking for interesting spots to snap a picture.

Day 23. I was stuck at the hostel in Ninh Binh for three days because there was a typhoon that had hit northern Vietnam a few days ago. It was terrible, and so was my journey there.

My first destination in Vietnam was its capital Hanoi. This is where I spent the most time overall though I was initially staying here for about 10 days. First of all to get rid of my jetlag, but also to get a feeling of Vietnam in general and slowly get accustomed to the vibe of the country.

Day 4. The last couple of days were not very relaxing. I felt bad from the food I had eaten in Hanoi and there was a guy in my room who constantly snored like a truck. That’s why I decided to simply book a bus to Cat Ba.

Day 1. This was both an awesome as well as a shitty day. Excited to be in Vietnam I started exploring buzzing Hanoi, wandering around the famous Old Quarter.
